NEWS: VQ appoints NEW FIRST VIOLINIST!

News from the VQ: Canadian violinist Katie Stillman will be joining the Villiers Quartet as our new first violinist.

We are hugely excited to welcome Katie to the VQ Family!

Katie has a vibrant career as a chamber musician, soloist and orchestral leader. She was a founding member of the Barbirolli Quartet which performed extensively throughout Europe. With her duo partner, pianist Simon Lane, she won many prizes and performed at the Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, Bridgewater Hall and St. John’s Smith Square.

She teaches violin and chamber music at Chetham’s School of Music and pedagogy at the Royal Northern College of Music. She also plays regularly in concerts for children in the acclaimed series Bach to Baby.  She can be heard on the 2011, 2014 and 2018 ABRSM violin syllabus for the supporting exam material which is distributed worldwide.

A violinist with fearless energy, last season, Katie directed and performed as a soloist with Manchester Camerata and London Concertante, and she guest-led Opera North’s production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.  She is co-leader of Manchester Camerata and a member of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Katie lives in the Peak District with her husband Owen and two small children.  She loves walking in the hills and escaping back to Northern Ontario to spend time by the lake.
